2011 Red Baron Ball

The 22nd Annual Red Baron Ball in Wonderland

Fruita, CO (April 5, 2010) – Family Health West in Fruita is pleased to announce its upcoming 22nd annual Red Baron Ball, celebrating over 60 years of providing health care to the community. The event is April 16th at the DoubleTree Hotel in Grand Junction beginning at 5:30 p.m.
This year’s theme is Alice in Wonderland, featuring the looking glass and the organization’s fundraising goal of replacing all of the windows in the Family Health West Nursing Home. The décor will reflect the Wonderland theme where guests will enjoy a gourmet dinner, live and silent auctions, and dancing to the live music of Bobby Walker Review with proceeds benefitting the residents of the Family Health West Nursing home. Premier sponsors of the event are Central Distributing Co., FCI Constructors, Inc., Home Loan Investment Co., Dr. Kenneth Lewis, Dr. Ellen Price, Dr. Larry D. Tice, Dr. Lynda Hamner and The Daily Sentinel. Red Baron sponsors are Alpine Bank, The Double Tree Hotel, Mountain Aire Medical Supply, Rocky Mountain Health Plans, St. Mary’s Hospital, The Francis Family, and Western Valley Family Practice.
“This is a sell-out event and this year we are doing things a little differently,” said Angelina Salazar, Director of Development, “Instead of proceeds benefitting the organization as a whole, we are focusing on replacing the windows in the nursing home which were first installed in 1979.”
The ability of our residents to view the outside through a beautiful window is so important to everyday quality of life,” said Lorraine Archuleta, event coordinator, “Our goal is to replace every window with highly rated low-e glass, u-value, spacer system and an attractive dressing! “ Family Health West is a nonprofit that relies on charitable contributions for capital and program support. The Red Baron Ball, the organization’s biggest fundraiser, was first held in the West Star Aviation hangar at Walker Field, 22 years ago. Over the years, the Ball has become a treasured event as the event sells out each year and raises funds for the nonprofit organization.
Family Health West opened a new hospital in 2009 complete with urgent care and emergency department, surgery suites, and other inpatient and outpatient services. In addition, Family Health West also offers an Imaging Center, Rehabilitation Therapy Center, Outpatient Procedure Center, assisted living residences and extended long-term care specializing in Alzheimer’s care.
