Phyllis K. Pool Receives Ruth B. Wyper Award

Fruita, CO - February 9, 2012 – Family Health West recently awarded Phyllis K. Pool, their annual Ruth B. Wyper Award. This award is bestowed annually to an individual or entity that has had a significant impact on the well-being and mission of the Lower Valley Hospital Association d/b/a Family Health West. Phyllis was selected because of her years of leadership, dependability, reliability, impact of service, and her representation of Family Health West in the community.
“I’m truly honored by this award,” said Phyllis, “There are so many people who have demonstrated their dedication to the Family Health West family.” Phyllis recently retired as laboratory director after 35 years at Family Health West, an expanding nonprofit health care facility that provides a hospital with surgical services, ED, Urgent Care; and assisted living, a nursing home, Alzheimer’s care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation therapy center, an imaging center, and outpatient procedure center. “We can’t say enough about Phyllis,” said Dennis Ficklin, Family Health West Hospital President and CEO, “She has been such a model for this organization…”
The Ruth B. Wyper Award began in 1959 when two families wanted to honor their mother and grandmother after receiving care from Family Health West. Additionally, in appreciation of excellent laboratory services, one of the family members designated Family Health West’s laboratory as one recipient of estate proceeds. This annual award has been presented over the past 50 years to an individual or group who has had extraordinary involvement and provided exceptional service to the organization.
“Phyllis is known for her great sense of humor, exceptional leadership skills, and being a world-class fly fisherwoman,” said Hospital Administrator Errol Snider, “We were so fortunate to have Phyllis as part of our family. She set the bar high and we are grateful for her service.”
