• ABOUT THE BALL  The Red Baron Ball, the area's Premier, Black Tie Gala, has continued to receive "Soaring Support" for over 17 years.  The event starts with a Social and Awesome Silent Auction followed by an Extraordinary Dinner, including Show-Cased Grand Valley Wine and a fabulous dessert.  After dinner guests enjoy an Entertaining Live Auction and Dancing to the tunes of Live Music.  All proceeds from this Very Successful Event benefit Family Health West.

• WHY THE AVIATION THEME FOR 17 YEARS?  Family Health West's first Red Baron Ball was held in the West Star Aviation hangar at Walker Field Airport, 17 years ago.  The runways were lined with 1940's era biplanes and various aircraft.  An awesome B-1B Lancer was flown in for the occasion.  The hangar doors were open as a harvest moon rose above the Grand Mesa.  It was a memorable night.  The Ball has kept its aviation theme over the years and has become one of the community's Premier Events. 

Family Health West has continued to follow the traditional aircraft theme.   In recent years, the Ball has kicked off with the blast of an EA-6B known as the Prowler as it landed at Walker Field Airport.  The aircraft was flown from the Naval Air Station in Whidbey Island, Washington.  The crew belong to the VAQ-129 Training Squadron for the Prowler.  The VAQ-129 trains Navy, Marine Corp. and Air Force aircrew for the fleet.  Crew members have been honored guests at the Ball for several years. 

The Red Baron Ball is also known for its Awesome Auction Items!  In the past years we have had such items as a Harley Davidson motorcycle, incredible vacation getaways, i.e., a week stay at a resort choice from 150 countries around the world, golf trips, fine jewelry and art.

All proceeds from the event benefit Family Health West, a nonprofit organization that has become recognized as a Leader & Trendsetter in Health Care and Eldercare due to the development of a Unique Social Model of Care Concept.
